Vice Chairman, Head of Energy Investment Banking
Nicholas Johnson joined Stifel GMP in 2019 as Vice Chairman and Head of Energy Investment Banking, and Co-Head of Canadian Investment Banking. Nicholas was the Head of Energy Investment Banking at GMP FirstEnergy prior to the firm being acquired by Stifel. During his 23-year tenure with its predecessor firms, he worked on over 250 Canadian and international financing, advisory, M&A assignments representing over $30 billion of activity. Early in his career, Nicholas spent four years working at two of Canada's largest full-service brokerage firms. He was recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 in 2011 and was ranked as one of the Top 100 Investment Bankers in the world in 2008 and 2009 by Brendan Wood International. Nicholas earned a Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) from the University of Alberta in 1993 and holds the CFA designation. He currently sits on the boards of Odyssey Trust Company and Tetra Trust Company.
