Our Intern program is the key to building our future talent pipeline.

Many of our strongest associates started as interns, with that experience directly shaping their career path. Stifel’s program provides hands-on experience with our work, our people, and our culture. Interns learn from project-based work, peer activities, and collaboration leading to real outcomes.

Stifel’s Institutional Internship program begins with a robust training program that takes place during the first week of the program. From there, interns are engaged in day-to-day tasks and responsibilities alongside the full-time Analysts on their team, as well as a summer-long group project.

Our interns’ final assessment evaluates their performance in several sectors:

  • Job knowledge – financial modeling, quantitative & analytical skills, writing & presentation abilities
  • Interpersonal skills – communication, personal characteristics
  • Quality of work – attention to detail, time management & organization, work ethic

We value our interns’ fresh perspectives and diverse experiences which challenge us to think differently. Interns gain a strong sense of what makes Stifel unique — and how they can contribute now, and in the future.

FAQ's

  • Know the Company. Do a little homework. Learn what they do, who they serve, and what sets them apart. Being able to speak to why you want to work there goes a long way. A great way to get started is to read the Stifel Annual Report
  • Review the Job Description. Take a close look at the responsibilities and qualifications. Be ready to explain how your skills and experience line up – and don’t be afraid to share examples of your work that relate to the role.
  • Practice, but Don’t Memorize. Go over common interview questions out loud, especially the ones that ask about your background or how you’ve handled challenges. Practicing will help you feel more comfortable, so your responses become natural.
  • Bring Questions. Interviews go both ways. Ask about the team culture, what success looks like in the role, or how the company supports professional growth. Curious candidates stand out!
  • Be Yourself. This might sound simple, but it’s true. Interviews aren’t just about having the right answers - they’re about connection. Show up prepared, be authentic, and let your enthusiasm come through.
