Maryam Brown has more than 25 years of experience in engineering, legal, policy and regulatory roles spanning utility operations, infrastructure development, financial management, energy law and federal policy.
Ms. Brown is president and chief operation officer of Indiana Michigan Power, providing electric service in Indiana and Michigan. She oversees the company’s distribution operations, safety, customer service, communications, finance, external affairs and regulatory functions. Previously, Ms. Brown served as president and CEO of SoCalGas, leading the company through a demanding regulatory and policy environment while driving strong financial performance and overseeing its most significant operational modernization in two decades.
Ms. Brown began her career as an engineer at Amoco Oil Company before building an extensive career in complex energy and regulatory law, including experience as a Securities and Exchange Commission attorney.
Ms. Brown was Assistant to Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress for Policy and Senior Energy and Environment Counsel and Chief Counsel, Energy and Power, to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
Ms. Brown is a member of the National Petroleum Council, U.S. Department of Energy. She previously served as Chair of the American Gas Association Foundation and on the California Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee.
Ms. Brown received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University.
